In the 1400s, Europeans wanted a quick , powerful thanks to trade with West Indies . there have been spices on the road - and for the people of the center Ages, spices were super important.
Spices were used for medicine, to preserve food, to form perfumes and cosmetics, and in fact to feature flavor to food.
the very fact that spices were expensive and exotic, that they came from obscure, far-flung places, just added to their desirability.
the rationale that Europeans dared to sink into the unknown in sea voyages was that they really — really wanted to urge those spices (which traveled over land) without counting on Arab merchants — and Without paying the heavy prices demanded by those merchants.
You know, of course, that Columbus was a sailor who sailed west while trying to succeed in the east - by which I mean Asia, especially India and therefore the "Indies" - but instead he was within the islands and Tied across continents which is extremely much unknown to Europeans. (Of course, islands and continents were known to the various and diverse people that lived on them!)
After leaving for the Spanish king and queen, Columbus went around to "claim" new lands for Spain. Soon after Columbus, a Spanish man named Cortes decided to hunt wealth within the New World. He moved to Hispaniola and later Cuba. The Spaniards who settled the Caribbean islands wanted to explore the mainland, and in 1518, Cortés was elected captain of 1 of those expeditions.
Cortés discovered a gaggle of various people, what we now call Mexico - and he quickly realized that a number of these indigenous people had been conquered by a gaggle called the Aztec, and none were very conscious of it. wasn't happy.
Cortés was fortunate to flee as a Spanish priest who was shipwrecked on the Yucatan and learned the Chontal Maya . He became a Cortes Interpreter. Cortes found a lady , who spoke both the Chontal and Nahutal languages of the Aztec, and with these two interpreters, horses, and Spanish weapons, Cortes gathered a military to advance the Aztec.
The Aztec emperor, Moctezuma II, allowed Moresa and his army into the capital Tenochittalan. (It is believed that he hoped to find out the weaknesses of the Spaniards in order that the latter could defeat them.) Moctejuma also gave Cortes some gifts made from precious gold. If he thought those gifts were getting to earn him some good will, he was sad, because the Spaniards felt that the Aztec had gold! - And in fact the Spaniards really, really wanted to sleep! Gold more and more! All of the gold!
During the conquest of the Aztec Empire many various events happened . it had been an extended , violent victory of these who, while conquering the region themselves, inflicted much violence on people . Here are some highlights: Moctezuma ended up under confinement - in his own castle! - In your own capital! Cortes fought to arrest the Spaniards sent by the governor of Cuba. While Cortés was faraway from Tenochtitlan, the Spaniards administered the shocking slaughter of men, women and youngsters of the elite - who were celebrating a spiritual holiday. Moctezuma was killed, perhaps intentionally or perhaps accidentally , perhaps by the Spanish or perhaps by his own people in rebellion, as he tried to please Cortes. The Spaniards and their original allies tried to go away Tenochtitlán, and most of them - many Spaniards, thousands of Native allies - died as they did so. Smallpox - an unknown disease within the New World until Europeans arrived - began to spread throughout the Aztec Empire. Cortes finally conquered the Aztec after a Luoyung siege of Tenochtitlan.
Tenoctitlan was constructed on Lake Tecococo.he Aztecs were ready to kill most of the Cortes.
But Cortés was ready to cut the town
the remainder of the empire with its siege - then the situation
Worked to defeat the town too!
it had been on this date in 1521 that the last Aztec emperor, Cuihatemoc, fled the town and therefore the Aztec conquest was considered complete.
